Brookings Summer Arts Festival and Spearfish Festival in the Park

Look for our Lake Thompson Honey Company booth at the Brookings Summer Arts Festival on July 9th and 10th. The next weekend you can find us in Spearfish at Festival in the Park. That is a 3 day festival starting on Friday, July 15th. We have some new products this year and we would love for you to just stop by and chat. Hope to see you there!

Honey Production Update - June 2011

The bees came back to South Dakota in good shape from east Texas at the end of May. After much four wheeling through mud and rain they are in their locations for the summer and ready for honey production. There is a lot of flooding in our area this summer so it may be a challenge. The sweet clover is starting to bloom now and produce nectar so we are putting honey boxes on the hives. We have plenty of moisture but we need some hot days for a good honey crop. Its amazing how quickly the bees can fill a box with honey during the heart of honey season.
